Balanced magazine was created to reflect coastal travel, specifically in the Pacific northwest. Including those who seek to be environmentally aware. This was accomplished by selecting visually impacting nature photos that best represent the coast and a cool toned color palette. The masthead’s angled lines are to represent the strong winds on coastal beaches.

To grab the readers interest text is integrated with images can create a visually
appealing layout that not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also helps convey the theme or message of the articles. Using nature photos of beaches and animals native to the Pacific Northwest adds an element of local flavor and interest to the magazine. Readers are likely drawn to these images because they evoke a sense of familiarity to the region.
Balanced Magazine Departments
For the department spreads, the goal was to design engaging pages that would
captivate readers as they flip through the magazine, enticing them to discover topics of interest. Each spread features unique column arrangements tailored to reflect the distinct personality and focus of the department it represents. To maintain cohesion throughout the magazine, nautical navy-blue headers are incorporated on each page, seamlessly tying together the diverse content while reinforcing the publication’s overarching coastal identity.
